The difference between Viola and Violin?
The viola belongs to the STRINGS family in the symphony orchestra.
Being similar in the appearance as the violin, the viola is slightly bigger in size. The sound produced by the viola is deeper and mellower.
It plays an important roles in the string ensembles and the orchestra, filling in harmonies to create a warm and rich sound.
The Viola is not usually picked as a solo instrument. It is little known that famous composers and musicians such as W.A Mozart, Ludwig Beethoven and Nicolo Paganini have learnt and played the viola.
Some original works that feature the viola prominently include:
Mozart's Sinfonia Concertante for violin, viola and orchestra, k364 and Berlioz's Harold in Italy, a symphony with solo viola which was intended for violin virtuoso, Paginini.
